I just finished watching the new She-ra, which I loved! I finished reading Artemis by Andy Weir, which made me furious - and in good things, a giant reread of Tamora Pierce's Emelan series, which still brings me a lot of joy.
Ahhh so difficult! I think I like the Circle Opens ones the most because you get to see all the other countries amd cultures? And the relationships between the teachers and students become so sweet, especially Rosethorn and Briar.
I have complicated feelings about Artemis, mostly in the way I usually do when male authors write female protagonists. I'm wondering if we had similar frustrations with it.
And, I've also watched the new She-Ra and want to draw hearts around it. This is 3-for-3 in this post, so I'm going to add you to my DW circle if that's ok. :)
I bet we did! For me she didn't feel like a real woman, just a particular sort of fantasy woman, and the way that she described her own body was just so male gazey and awful.
Yes, go for it! It's nice to be back here! And... finally writing about what I'm up to and what I'm interested in, after a good while.
